State lawmakers are considering rebate legislation as 

A way of distributing the state's budget surplus among taxpayers.

A new round of bills passed by a budget committee on 

Friday may benefit around 460,000 Montana residents.

Is anyone eligible to participate?

Montana taxpayers could benefit from 

$480 million set aside from a $2.5 billion fund.

In exchange for rebates on their state income taxes for 2021, 

The money could become available for one-time payments of $1,250 each.

A total of $284million would be allocated to homeowners

From 2022 to 2023 for property tax rebates of up to $500.

About 292,000 households are estimated to be eligible for 

the program each year according to the Montana Department of Revenue.
