Checks to eligible individuals - see if you qualify
There is a chance millions of Americans will receive
inflation relief checks if a recently unveiled proposal is passed.
The governor of Michigan announced Monday that She will send
a $180 "inflation relief" check to each state tax filer, totaling $800 million.
"Lowering MI Costs" refers to the initiative that issued the checks.
Aside from direct payments, the proposal also eliminates Michigan's
Retirement tax and increases the state's Working Families Tax Credit.
Michigan's working families and seniors will benefit from
the biggest tax break in decades, said Governor Whitmer.
Michigan's large state surplus, estimated
at $9.2 billion this fall, will be redistributed through the plan.
Whitmer's Democratic Party controls both houses of the
state legislature, giving it a good chance of passing eventually,
Despite Republican criticism for not cutting enough.
