Update on the stimulus program: Homeowners have 19 days left to apply for $1,500 payments
In New Jersey, homeowners have only 19 days left to
apply for a state program that gives them up to $1,500.
Applications are being accepted now through 28 Feb.
for the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners
and Renters program. New Jersey's Division of
Taxation reports that payments for this program will begin in
late spring, and benefits will be paid by check or direct deposit.
In a statement, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) said that
the money will go directly back into the pockets of nearly
2 million middle-class, working-class, and senior households across the state.
It will effectively undo a decade's worth of property
tax increases for more than a million homeowners under
ANCHOR's direct relief. Rent hikes will be cushioned for nearly
1 million renters thanks to ANCHOR's tenant relief.
