There is a chance that Americans will receive a one-time

$500 rebate from the $1 billion relief fund

There is a chance that millions of Georgians

Will receive a $500 tax rebate in the near future.

In order to make the one-time direct payments, Kemp is

Proposing to use $1 billion of the state's surplus budget of $6.6 billion.

According to the Associated Press, Georgia's

Governor Mills plans to mail around 200,000 checks every week.

State House passed the plan 170-1 on Thursday.

The bill is now headed to the state Senate for further discussion.

Who is eligible to participate?

This program would be modeled after House Bill 1302,

Which gave Georgia taxpayers up to $500 in rebates last year.

Georgia Department of Revenue reports that that bill provided

Married couples filing jointly with up to $500, head of

Household filers with up to $375, and single adults with up to $250.
